Brittany and Jerry didn’t just turn 40, they time-traveled. For their double birthday weekend at the family’s private Aspen estate, we built a full 80s world from the ground up: a garage transformed into a glowing LED dance floor flanked by an attached disco-ball tent, walls plastered with Purple Rain and Footloose posters, neon hand chairs, and a DJ in full windbreaker-and-ski-goggle regalia spinning hits next to a lit-up Rubik’s cube. Guests arrived in mandatory costume to find jello shots in primary colors, a Lunchables-themed charcuterie spread, and welcome bags stocked with actual cassette mixtapes labeled “Do Not Tape Over.” When the night wore on, late night bites arrived in custom HappyMc40sMeal boxes, mini sliders and fries served up McDonald’s style. A Polaroid station invited everyone to snap a photo and tape it into a custom Trapper Keeper guest book, while a retro toy bar loaded with Simon, Operation, and Lite-Brite kept the nostalgia going strong. Even the bathroom got the throwback treatment, stocked with party essentials in classic Caboodles cases, because surviving 1985 takes preparation. From the welcome reception to the final dance, every detail pulled guests straight into 80’s.
